SPANKOX

Spankox is mind, body and soul of DJ/Producer Agostino Carollo, native Italian, but known and appreciated internationally for such creations as X-TREME (undisputed success around the world, gold record across various European countries, and immediately covered by Right Said Fred in 2002), EYES CREAM (#1 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Music Charts in 2000), or AGO, to name a few, not to mention his involvement as co-producer in the recent project, SNAP! vs. MOTIVO: « The Power of Bhangra. »

Recently however, Agostino’s been keeping busy with a new project, experimenting and searching for grooves new to the dance floor. It started with the somewhat casual encounter with Tina Leiu, the amazing vocalist/actress of Hawaiian descent. The place: club Space in Miami. The time: 4 a.m. It didn’t take her long to feel Agostino’s presence and in a few months Spankox was born. Needless to say, Tina’s the voice of the innovative single « To The Club, » afflicted with a malady far more severe than Saturday Night Fever. This fever takes her out not just Saturday, but Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday….

Speaking of fever, « To The Club »‘s video, filmed in steamy Miami during March Dance Mayhem – a.k.a. « Winter Music Conference » – shows us the heat-induced hallucinations of a white Stretch-Hummer Limo driver (played by none other than Agostino himself) who, while driving the streets of Miami listening to the radio, catches glimpses of his club-bound passengers dancing and stripping in time with the music. Directed by Miguel Delgado, whose credits include videos for Shania Twain, Everything But The Girl, and Bob Marley, and by Jon Jacobs, director of the movie « Hey DJ », the video shows what happens when driving under the influence: of a slammin’ dance track.

Spankox wins the hearts of clubbers with its original sounds and with the desire for liberty represented by the need to never stop dancing, communicated through the lyrics of « To The Club ». « To The Club » was also remixed by the formidable Highpass, a Motivo regular who recently hit #1 on the UK singles sales chart with his remix of Fatman Scoop’s « Be Faithful.”
